Special Education Services

The ECOESC can represent districts in area and state meetings and assures that all Special Education programs are in compliance with State and Federal guidelines.
Special Education teachers receive assistance with developing individualized programs for identified students and with choosing appropriate curriculum and materials.

Special Education supervisors also conduct observations of targeted students and assist regular teachers in completing referral forms.

The East Central Ohio ESC offers School Psychological Services to those Districts wishing to participate. The services of the School Psychologist include:

  • Providing the intensive psycho-educational evaluation of individual children identified as or thought to be disabled;
  • Contributing to the written report of the evaluation team and delineating the results of the psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of the Individualized Educational program (IEP) for each disabled child studied;
  • Contributing to the Multifactored Evaluation (MFE), utilizing diagnostic instruments and techniques appropriate for the area of disability or suspected disability, as part of the Multidisciplinary team;
  • Consulting with teachers, parents, and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of disabled children to insure the provision of the most appropriate educational program; and
  • Counseling individually and in groups with disabled students and/or their parents.

Depending upon the availability of time as determined by the size of his/her caseload, the school psychologist may engage in:

  • Serving as a consultant to schools in the development of educational evaluation and accountability procedures, pupil and personnel policies, inservice activities, curriculum, and staff development;
  • Assisting educational staff in implementing or modifying instructional strategies, classroom management procedures, intervention strategies and follow-up activities;
  • Providing for a differentiated referral system allowing school personnel and parents to request intensive psycho-educational evaluation and evaluation and/or consultation for non-disabled children; and
  • Providing screening programs, mental health activities, and referral to and consultation with outside service agencies.

Special EdNet Consortium:

The ECOESC also provides schools with IEP/ETR records management through the use of Practical Solutions for Educators SpedNet. District personnel can use this software to complete IEP/ETR forms and assist with the management of due dates, compliancy, accomidations and record retention. We operate a consortium that houses this data centrally and can be shared with any district that subscribe to this service. We can also provide automated importing of student information data that can be used by personnel when completing forms. Pricing for this service is based on ADM.
