Supporting Justice-involved Youth Point-of-Contact:
Local School District Liaison Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ohio requires every district to identify a single point of contact for justice involved youth. The point of contact plays an important role in assisting with the development of each Whole Child Transition Plan. Having a point-of-contact available for justice-involved youth can increase collaboration, facilitate supports for students and families and streamline communication between partners.
Education of Students in Correctional Facilities Website
Both federal and state laws require that every student with a disability receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE). This includes students who are in a community corrections facility or juvenile detention center.

The Whole Child Transition Plan Diagram offers a visual example of those who may be part of a student’s transition team and the role each plays when creating and working through a student’s transition plan.
