Student Resource Coordinator

East Central Ohio Educational Service Center

The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a Student Resource Coordinator to join the team in Belmont County.  Assigned to Utica Shale Academy, this position will work with students to eliminate barriers that impact academic success.

 

Belmont County Location: Utica Shale Academy
Schedule:   Tuesday through Friday, 7:45 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; no school on Mondays

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Resource Coordinator supports students during the school day by helping remove immediate barriers to attendance, participation, safety, and classroom success. This position is limited to school-based duties at the Belmont location and does not include home visits, community outreach, outside case management, or other external CHW responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist students safely onto and off the school bus and support orderly student arrival and dismissal procedures
  • Help supervise students during arrival, breakfast, lunch, transitions, and dismissal as assigned
  • Pick up, transport, organize, and distribute student meals in accordance with school procedures and food-safety expectations
  • Provide classroom assistance as directed by the teacher or site administrator, including helping students stay engaged, organized, and on task
  • Offer calm, respectful, relationship-based support to students experiencing minor social, emotional, behavioral, or practical barriers during the school day
  • Help students access school-based supports and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate teacher, administrator, counselor, nurse, or designated staff member
  • Assist with basic attendance follow-up, student check-ins, documentation, and other school-based support tasks as assigned
  • Maintain student confidentiality and comply with FERPA, school policies, mandated-reporting requirements, and all applicable safety procedures
  • Support a safe, orderly, welcoming, and student-centered school environment
  • Perform other related school-based duties as assigned by the Belmont site administrator or Superintendent
  • May be required to occasionally fluctuate work hours to participate in community events outside normal business hours

 

POSITION LIMITATIONS:

  • No home visits, off-site client services, community outreach, or external case-management responsibilities
  • No independent medical, mental-health, diagnostic, counseling, or clinical services
  • The position supports, but does not replace, licensed teachers, counselors, nurses, administrators, or other credentialed professionals

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Educational Aide permit or valid license issued by ODE
  • Community Health Worker credential or approved CHW training preferred; may be required based on funding or program requirements
  • Experience working with adolescents, schools, youth programs, behavioral-health supports, social services, or community-based programs preferred
  • Ability to build trust with students while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Strong communication, reliability, organization, discretion, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and meet ECOESC employment requirements, including Rap Back enrollment
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation may be required for meal pickup or other authorized school business

 

PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee must be able to move throughout the school, assist with student arrival and dismissal, lift and carry meal containers and routine supplies, and remain active for portions of the school day.  Reasonable accommodations may be provided as required by law.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:
Regular schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. The Belmont location is not scheduled to hold school on Mondays. The schedule may be adjusted for school-calendar changes, training, emergencies, or operational needs with appropriate notice.
