Guernsey CARES, in partnership with East Central Ohio Educational Service Center, Guernsey County Children Services, the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, and Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center, will host a free Kinship/Foster Appreciation Night on Tuesday, April 28, at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge. Admission to the event is free.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a resource fair in the Exhibit Hall, where local organizations will be available to share information about community services. Supervised bounce houses will also be set up for children. Pizza and refreshments will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. A screening of Zootopia 2 will follow at 6:10 p.m.

The event is open to kinship caregivers, foster families, and all individuals raising children who are not their own — including grandparents, relatives, and foster parents.

“Whether you are caring for a grandchild, relative, or foster child, we hope you will join us for a night of appreciation, resources, and family fun,” organizers said.

The event marks the latest effort by local agencies to connect caregivers with resources and recognize the role kinship and foster families play in Guernsey County.
