Math Curriculum Consultant

East Central Ohio ESC

The East Central Ohio ESC is looking to add a Math Curriculum Consultant beginning with the 2026-27 school year.  This position will work collaboratively with member districts across Belmont, Guernsey, Noble, Holmes, and Tuscarawas Counties to support districts in implementing Ohio’s Learning Standards for Mathematics with an emphasis on the Standards for Mathematical Practice, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving processes, conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application. The Consultant will provide coaching and professional learning aligned to Ohio DEW mathematics initiatives, including the use of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), evidence-based instructional strategies, mathematical discourse, and data-informed decision making through the analysis of value-added, formative, diagnostic, and achievement data to support differentiated instruction and intervention within an integrated MTSS framework.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Mathematics Education and/or Administrative Leadership preferred
  • Valid Ohio license or certification appropriate for the assignment
  • Demonstrated expertise in mathematics instruction, curriculum implementation, and/or instructional coaching
  • Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
  • Knowledge of Ohio’s Mathematics Standards, Mathematical Practices, instructional processes, and current state initiatives related to mathematics achievement
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional coaching, job-embedded professional learning, or leading professional development for educators
  • Experience using and/or supporting districts in the use of value-added data, assessment data, and multiple data sources to inform instructional decisions and intervention planning
  • Experience with Integrated Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (iMTSS), intervention planning, and differentiated instruction in mathematics
  • Knowledge and experience in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and aligned assessment systems
  • Proven successful teaching and/or leadership experience in mathematics education
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are representative of performance expectations, but are not considered all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary.

  • Works collaboratively with district leadership teams to support continuous improvement in mathematics curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention systems
  • Supports districts in aligning instructional practices to Ohio’s Mathematics Standards, Mathematical Practices, and evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Assists districts in analyzing value-added data, assessment results, benchmark data, screening data, and other student performance indicators to inform instructional planning and intervention decisions
  • Supports the implementation of Integrated Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (iMTSS) and intervention practices designed to improve mathematics achievement for all learners
  • Facilitates district and building-level processes for identifying, evaluating, selecting, implementing, and monitoring High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and aligned mathematics assessments
  • Provides coaching and technical assistance to teachers, instructional coaches, administrators, and collaborative teacher teams to strengthen mathematics instruction and student engagement
  • Plans, coordinates, and delivers professional learning aligned to Ohio initiatives and district needs in mathematics instruction, assessment literacy, instructional practices, and curriculum implementation
  • Supports districts in developing coherent assessment systems and utilizing formative, interim, and summative assessment practices to improve student learning outcomes
  • Monitors current educational research, legislative changes, and state initiatives related to mathematics instruction and communicates relevant updates to districts
  • Encourages the use of innovative instructional strategies, collaborative problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and student-centered learning experiences
  • Assists districts in developing sustainable systems and structures for curriculum implementation, instructional improvement, and continuous professional growth
  • Supports district program initiatives and assists with grant/program planning and implementation when requested
  • Collects, enters, and verifies program data as directed
  • Prepares and submits reports, records, and related documentation in a timely manner
