Middle School Honor Band & Choir Event Unites Young Talent from Across the Region

On March 12, 2025, the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center came alive with the sound of music as over 170 middle school students participated in the Middle School Honor Band and Choir Event. Organized by the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center (ECOESC), this all-day celebration of musical excellence brought together students and directors from 10 school districts across 4 counties to form One Band and One Choir.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the day was filled with dynamic rehearsals led by dedicated music directors, who worked closely with both small ensembles and full groups. Throughout the day, students collaborated, practiced, and fine-tuned their performances—culminating in an inspiring evening concert at 7:00 p.m. for family and friends.

This powerful event showcased young musicians’ incredible talent and highlighted the importance of collaboration, creativity, and the arts in education. The energy, passion, and unity on stage were a testament to what students can achieve when given the opportunity to perform and grow together.
