East Central Ohio ESC

The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a qualified Teacher to work with students in an alternative education setting.  Individual will be responsible for promoting the education of students requiring a different learning plan by planning and tailoring courses of study, monitoring progress, managing academic efforts and providing a safe environment conducive to learning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Educates students by planning and developing course of study according to home district/curriculum guidelines and state requirements
  • Tailors course of study by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability and previous achievement
  • Develops and presents lesson plans by using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, exhibits,  audiovisual, computers, etc.
  • Monitors and grades student results by preparing assignments and tests for in-school preparation and homework; conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and state law
  • Maintains order in the classroom by counseling students with behavioral problems; consults with other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learning disabilities, drug, or alcohol abuse, problems of social adjustment, or child abuse
  • Works with appropriate staff to prepare and follow IEP plans as necessary
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps district informed by maintaining records of academic performance; reports on all elements of student development
  • Provides student support services by monitoring study periods, lunch or other activities
  • Updates job knowledge by attending staff meetings; participates in educational opportunities

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Licensure appropriate for position through Ohio Department of Education
  • Record free of violations which would prohibit employment in public education
  • Prior experience in teaching or alternative learning environment preferred
