Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

East Central Ohio ESC

POSITION:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works under the clinical supervision of an assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide direct support to identified children.  The RBT will implement plans developed by the BCBA for skill acquisition and behavior support in an academic setting.  In coordination with the BCBA, the RBT will also collect data, modify the child’s environment or assignments, and facilitate the child’s interaction with peers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements behavior intervention plans and procedures in a daily academic setting
  • Assists the BCBA in conducting functional behavior assessments and records data to measure outcomes
  • Works with the assigned teacher to assist the child in instructional activities; modifies classroom environment and/or assignments to meet the child’s needs
  • Maintains an accurate record of the child’s progress, occurrences of problem behaviors, and general observations; provides feedback to the BCBA and teacher
  • Assists children with skill acquisition, including independent life skills (i.e., hygiene, self-management, and food preparation/feeding)
  • Monitors child behavior inside and outside the classroom; facilitates interaction with peers in co-curricular and non-instructional activities
  • Supports an inclusive education in the least restrictive environment, using PBIS and intervention strategies
  • Implements district safety management procedures and maintains a clean, organized learning environment
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining intervention materials
  • Interacts in a positive manner with the children’s families and support team; participates in meetings as required
  • Maintains respect at all times for confidential information
  • Participates in training and staff development as required
  • Performs other specific job-related duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Ohio Department of Education License appropriate for assignment
  • Valid Registered Behavior Technician certification/licensure
  • Experience working in K-12 educational setting which includes the use of intervention planning and behavioral management techniques
  • Must be able to meet all mandated health requirements
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
  • Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and Board policies
