East Central Ohio ESC
The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a qualified individual to join the Fiscal Office as an Assistant to the Treasurer. This position will primarily handle accounts receivable, while supporting budgetary, payroll, and HR functions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and enjoy working in a team atmosphere.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma; Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
- Experience using or willingness to learn Uniform School Accounting Software – USPS & USAS modules
- Experience or willingness to learn governmental fund accounting
- Knowledge of GAAP reporting, purchase order process, and invoicing procedures
- 3-5 years experience in accounting or fiscal role preferred
- Prior experience in an education/fiscal setting preferred
- Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are representative of performance expectations, but are not considered all inclusive:
- Issues service agreements to districts and customers as directed by the Superintendent, Treasurer and/or Directors
- Invoices districts and customers for services rendered; follows up on any outstanding payments to ensure payment is received
- Prepares annual adjustments for any mid-year changes in costs previously established with districts or customers
- Assists with travel arrangements and reservations for staff; communicates with hotels to provide tax-exempt documentation and payment prior to travel
- Reviews mileage reports to ensure accuracy and issues payment in a timely manner
- Assists employees with questions regarding contracts, mileage, travel and related items
- Prepares and makes bank deposits as needed
- Provides assistance to the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer – Budgetary as required
- Prepares the final meeting minutes following approval by the Governing Board; files supporting documents and agreements
- Stays current with changes to policies and procedures in relation to area of assignment
- Assembles data for Superintendent, Treasurer, Directors and auditors as requested
- Maintains files and follows record retention procedures according to Board policy
- Participates in in staff meetings and provides professional input when evaluating new systems or procedures
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed
Additional Details:
- 260 Day Contract, including paid holidays
- 8 hours/day; summer office hours mid-May to early August

- Vacation & sick accrual based on Board policy
- Salary based on experience and approved salary schedule
