Behavior Support Specialist

Cambridge City Schools

The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to provide services for Cambridge City Schools.  This position will begin with the 2021-2022 school year.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited school preferred
  • Pupil Services License or ODE Registration
  • Record free of criminal violations which would prohibit employment in a public school
  • Trauma Informed Care knowledge preferred

 

Job Responsibilities

The Behavior Support Specialist will be responsible for the following duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Provide services to students to enhance their emotional well-being and improve their academic performance
  • Provide individual and group supporting counseling
  • Develop intervention strategies to enable the student to function within their school, home and community environments
  • Work closely with staff to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial and health) that may affect the student’s performance and behavior
  • Use knowledge of Trauma Informed Care practices to best meet the needs of students, staff and families
  • Coordinate community resources to meet students’ needs/wrap around services
  • Lead data collection of culture & climate of the school
  • Participate in the BLT & PBIS Committee
