Intervention Specialist

Fox Run Alternative School

The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a qualified Intervention Specialist for Fox Run Alternative School. Individual will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating learning experiences for students requiring an alternative to traditional educational programs. This position will begin with the 2021-2022 school year.

 

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepares the assigned classroom and requisitions supplies/equipment as needed
  • Teaches scheduled classes, documents performance objectives and creates effective learning experiences
  • Develops written lesson plans and ensures that teaching materials, class lists, and classroom procedures are readily available for substitutes
  • Implements effective pupil management procedures and maintains a high code of conduct
  • Develops and maintains a positive learning environment to stimulate student interest; works with parents and staff to understand academic and behavioral objectives
  • Evaluates the needs of students based on all information available; varies teaching techniques to address individual learning styles
  • Proctors standardized and alternative tests as directed
  • Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time
  • Evaluates student achievement/performance and assigns grades; prepares progress reports and consults with parents as needed
  • Watches for problem situations and works with sueprvisors and other staff to eliminate unacceptable conditions and/or behaviors
  • Makes referrals for student assistance/intervention when a need is indicated; meets mandated deadlines for required paperwork
  • Supervises non-classroom activities (i.e., fieldtrips, student training experiences, etc.)
  • Participates in staff meetings, professional development, conferences and other required program activities as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio teacher’s license or certification appropriate for assignment
  • Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
  • Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and Board policies
  • Training and/or experience in behavioral management techniques
